The Room

Marge led Hugh through the front garden, and into the house. She abruptly stopped and exclaimed "Oh, I forgot! The bathroom is being remodeled, it will be done in the morning. Maybe you could stay the night?"

Now, Hugh was a gentleman, and he could not deny such an offer. That would be a disgrace to the Jaweeni name.

"Uh... Of course I will stay ma'am," he hesitantly replied.

"Wonderful, I will show you to your room."

The hall had a country feel with wooden walls and a green carpet. There was a stairway leading upstairs, and an open door on the left. Hugh looked into the doorway and stopped. There was a stone stair leading down to a sort of cage with various whips and saddles. Suddenly Marge slammed the door shut, and with a smile said,"Just a tack room." Hugh hesitated before continuing.  At the top of the stair there were two doors, Marge indicated to the left one and said with a malicious grin,"Have a good night," and disappeared into the other room. Hugh shivered and opened the door. 

The room had white peeling walls and a wood floor. A desk with a chair sat in one corner, in another, a bed with a metal frame. The window had a good view of the surrounding fields. The room smelled softly of roses. Hugh was nervous. He thought to himself that the "tack room" might be something more. Shouldn't a tack room be in the stables, and not the house? And those whips... He had to get out. Hugh sat on the bed and started to make a plan. The Window would be a good way to escape, but then what?
